Meet Dr. Deepak Dugar Your Rhinoplasty Expert

A Legacy of Excellence in Closed Rhinoplasty

Scarless nose surgeries or closed rhinoplasties are characterized by highly precise incisions and modifications to the nasal structure. Mastery of this method is dependent on mentorship from the best of the best. Dr. Deepak Dugar is part of a long line of surgeons who not only excelled in their field but also established the key principles that define cosmetic surgery today.

The foundations of closed rhinoplasty trace their origins back to the 1890s, when a German surgeon Dr. Jacques Joseph developed a pioneering hypothesis. He first thought about the latter after he operated on a man with an exceptionally large nose. Due to this prominent feature, the patient reportedly felt ashamed to go out in public.

According to Dr. Joseph, aesthetic surgery had a psychological aspect that was just as important as the functional and physical aspects. In other words, an individual who suffered from an unflattering physical feature that caused social or economic disadvantage was no different from a person afflicted with a fatal disease.

This was a bold claim to make because the vast majority of surgeons at the time didn't see a need to perform surgeries for cosmetic purposes. It's also important to consider that for Dr. Joseph, the need to look “normal” was not vanity.

It took some time for his ideas to become mainstream, but they did eventually catch on, not least because of his efforts to train several budding professionals from the United States. One of these surgeons was Dr. Irving Goldman, who is famous for further developing the field of rhinoplasty during his time at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

Dr. Goldman, in turn, also trained a new cadre of elite cosmetic surgeons. Dr. Howard Diamond was one of his prolific mentees who also became known for exceptional rhinoplasties. Dr. Diamond then passed on his insights and technique to the legendary Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Morey Parkes.

Dr. Parkes became famous in Los Angeles mainly because of the cosmetic surgeries he did on several celebrities from the 1960s to the 1980s. He was especially revered for his Scarless Nose® surgeries that didn't leave any visible marks on patients.

Dr. Parkes then organized a fellowship and apprenticeship program that would be sponsored by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He would go on to mentor the most promising surgeons for 25 years. In 1979, he decided to take on one final fellow. That young surgeon would turn out to be Dr. Raj Kanodia.

It wouldn't be the first time the young Dr. Kanodia would be taken under the wing of a Scarless Nose® practitioner. Prior to accepting the apprenticeship with Dr. Parkes, he also worked with Dr. Eugene Tardy, another renowned rhinoplasty surgeon based in Chicago.

This final fellowship batch in 1979 allowed Dr. Kanodia to further deepen his knowledge of cosmetic surgery. After graduating, he joined Dr. Parkes in Beverly Hills to continue honing his Scarless Nose® expertise. Dr. Kanodia eventually took over the practice after Dr. Parkes retired.

Today, Dr. Kanodia is widely considered as one of the world's best closed rhinoplasty surgeons. With new advancements in technology and fresh discoveries in the field, it was fertile ground for Dr. Kanodia to thrive and cement his reputation as a pioneering surgeon. His star-studded clientele speaks volumes about the quality of his work — from celebrities and athletes to members of royal families.

Like his predecessor, Dr. Kanodia also organized his very own apprenticeship program. One of the last fellows selected for the Advanced Closed Rhinoplasty Fellowship was Dr. Deepak Dugar. Dr. Dugar continues the legacy of excellence that his predecessors carefully built throughout the decades. Since beginning his journey as a rhinoplasty surgeon, he continuously strives to learn from his peers to further sharpen his practice. He regularly seeks out mentorship and collaboration opportunities with other established names in the field.

A Talent Compression Zone in Closed Rhinoplasty

In his best-selling book, The Talent Code, Daniel Coyle analyzes what makes certain pockets of the world produce so much raw talent. He asks, “How does a penniless Russian tennis club with one indoor court create more top-twenty women players than the entire United States? How does a humble storefront music school in Dallas, Texas produce Jessica Simpon, Demi Lovato, and a succession of pop icons?”

Brazil is a talent hotbed for football (called soccer in America). Why does Brazil consistently produce the most successful soccer (football) players in the world? To date, the South American country has five World Cup victories, 900+ young talents signed each year by professional European clubs, and stars like Pele, Ronaldinho, and many more.

One key to Brazil's success in developing football talent was when indoor football or futsal gained popularity in the 1950s. This made the sport widely available in a variety of venues (especially small ones) that didn't require well-kept, open grass. The smaller space in many of these areas forced many players to develop better ball handling and fundamentals. This is what Coyle calls a talent compression zone.

The exclusive and rigorous fellowship program spearheaded by Dr. Raj Kanodia acted as a talent compression zone. It produced an elite few surgeons like Dr. Deepak Dugar, who would continue practicing and further developing the Scarless Nose® approach. This sole focus on closed or endonasal rhinoplasty enables Dr. Dugar to ensure each surgery goes according to plan and without major setbacks. Through his practice, you, too, can enjoy exceptional results with a Scarless Nose® job.

An Exclusive Apprenticeship for Closed Rhinoplasty

No apprenticeship system has been as successful as the one developed in Florence during the Renaissance. Craft guilds sprung up in order to control quality and regulate competition. To succeed in developing top-notch talent, guilds organized apprenticeships.

Boys age 7+ were sent to live with masters for a fixed term of five to 10 years. The apprentice worked directly under the supervision of the master and learned through practice. Applied learning through action was valued over lectures and discussions of theory. Through this system, the apprentice would rise through the ranks and, if skilled enough, achieve mastery.

Moreover, it created an unbroken chain of expertise that would push the boundaries of the field in every generation. From Ghiberti to Donatello, to Verrocchio, and to Da Vinci, the pupil would spend years learning and eventually achieve a level of mastery undreamt of by their predecessor.

This is how Dr. Deepak Dugar devoted his career to learning all the nuances and intricacies of Scarless Nose® jobs. Aside from pursuing the prestigious 7-year B.A./M.D. combined medical program at George Washington University, he was invited to join the Advanced Closed Rhinoplasty Fellowship of Dr. Raj Kanodia.

Like the Renaissance masters, Dr. Dugar comes from a long line of highly accomplished and pioneering cosmetic surgeons. Dr. Kanodia learned from his own mentor, Dr. Morey Parkes, who studied under Dr. Howard Diamond, who in turn learned from Dr. Irving Goldman, whose mentor, Dr. Jacques Joseph, laid the foundations of modern aesthetic surgery. With his base of operations in Beverly Hills, California, a veritable mecca of beauty and cosmetics, Dr. Dugar is in a great position to bring the Scarless Nose® approach to a wide variety of patients. Far superior to traditional or open rhinoplasties, a Scarless Nose® job can do wonders for you and help enhance your natural beauty.

Fostering a Culture of Kaizen

Toyota is renowned for its ability to build reliable and long-lasting vehicles. However, this car manufacturer didn't become one of the most successful companies overnight. Toyota's culture of Kaizen (the Japanese term for continuous improvement) plays a crucial role in its success.

Every employee has the authority to halt the entire production line if they spot a problem. Each factory has an emergency pull cord that anyone can trigger if they identify an issue. By empowering everyone in this way, Toyota is signaling to its employees that there is always an opportunity to improve or address a new problem.

With his own commitment to continuous improvement, Dr. Deepak Dugar is not content to simply learn from decades of closed rhinoplasty excellence. Even with his numerous accomplishments and accolades, Dr. Dugar is constantly learning and improving. Whether it's taking note of distinct observations from a recent Scarless Nose® job or tapping the expertise of his peers from different parts of the world, the sustained effort of elevating the quality of work is a key component of Dr. Dugar's practice. As one of the most respected rhinoplasty clinics in the world, we owe it to our patients to constantly innovate in order to create a service as functional and impactful as it is beautiful.
