How long after a closed, Scarless Nose® rhinoplasty with Dr. Deepak Dugar can you get a facial?
After a closed, Scarless Nose® rhinoplasty, Dr. Dugar places a cast on the nose to keep the underlying structures in place and to protect the nasal bones. When the cast is removed 7 days after surgery, many patients will have oily and clogged nose skin. In turn, many of Dr. Dugar’s patients during the postoperative period ask when they are permitted to get a facial after their rhinoplasty.
Dr. Dugar advises his patients to wait until they are completely healed from surgery before deciding to undergo a facial on the nose skin. Because of the cast, most patients see an increase in blackheads on the nose. He advises his patients to avoid facials with extractions on the nose until 6 weeks after surgery. During the early stages of healing, the nose is sensitive, fragile, and at risk to change. Any sort of manipulation of the nose during this time could potentially undermine what was performed during the surgery.
Patients are allowed to get facials on the surrounding skin after cast removal, as long as the aesthetician is aware to stay away from the nose. Even after the 6-week post-operative period, he advises his patients to let their aestheticians know that they have had nose surgery and to be careful of that area.
This is just one of the various questions Dr. Dugar gets post-operatively. It is very important to choose a surgeon like Dr. Dugar who enforces post-operative care to ensure an optimal result. It is also important to choose a surgeon who you know will be responsive to your questions and concerns throughout your rhinoplasty journey.
