Any surgery that opens up your body, cosmetic or non cosmetic surgery, will take time to heal and could have after surgery pain. In closed Scarless Nose® rhinoplasty, the incisions are made inside the nose. The recovery is much faster and less painful than the open rhinoplasty.

In the open rhinoplasty the incisions are made on the outside of the nose and the nose is opened up. The procedure takes longer due to full reconstruction of the nose and the recovery could be more painful. Dr. Dugar, who has focused his whole practice on the closed Scarless Nose® rhinoplasty, does this procedure under general anesthesia.

Patients would be under anesthesia and sleep during the surgery and wake up in the recovery room with an ice glove on their face. They would be conscious upon waking up and if they feel any pain the nurses will give medication.

The day of surgery tylenol is adequate for the pain and the next day the pain is fully gone. Patients of Dr. Dugar usually don’t take any strong pain medications and do not feel much pain after their closed Scarless Nose® rhinoplasty.

After the post op appointment which is one or two days after surgery the pain subsides drastically, the pain is mostly the uncomfortable feeling of having sponges in the nose and not being able to breathe out of the nose. The incisions inside the nose will dissolve 3 to 4 weeks and the recovery is usually one week. For full post op instructions please click here https://www.scarlessnose.com/post-op-instructions-qa/

During your consultation Dr. Dugar will go over the details of your closed rhinoplasty journey and all the steps of the procedure and after care.
