Many patients seeking a Rhinoplasty often ask during their consultations, “Can I have nose filler or nose threads, prior to having surgery?” Dr. Dugar is here to tell you – it depends! In regards to filler, the only nose filler that is suitable to have in your nose prior and during a Rhinoplasty is Hyaluronic Acid. During surgery, the consistency of Hyaluronic Acid is easily removed through suction – without leaving any residue behind in the tissues – leaving no complications. Or, if a patient wishes, they can also choose to have their filler dissolved prior to surgery.

On the other hand, if you have permeant filler or nose threads, almost 100% of the time it’s nearly impossible and is too risky. In all of Dr. Dugar’s years of experience working in Closed Scarless Rhinoplasty, he’s had to turn down several patients due to having permanent filler or nose threads inside their nose. They can even take years to dissolve properly if you decide to later have a Rhinoplasty.

Bottom line, if you are looking to have a Rhinoplasty – please do NOT consider getting nose filler or nose threads, unless it’s nose filler that is Hyaluronic Acid! You may regret it down the road. However, as always, whatever you choose – please speak consult with a medical health professional prior to making any decisions about your nose.
