Your Radiant Pre-Wedding Cosmetic Guide!
It is so important to feel your best on your wedding day. It truly is a day where all eyes and cameras are on you. Because of this, we often have patients come to us to prepare for these big life events. There are a lot of different things that can be done to enhance one’s natural beauty and confidence prior to a wedding or big event.
If you are planning on getting any cosmetic surgery, it is very important to give yourself enough time to fully heal from the procedure. Ideally, you would give yourself one year to heal post surgery. This allows for any swelling to go down prior to your wedding or event. It is important not to rush any procedures because everyone heals differently and because of this it is better to give yourself more time to heal rather than less.
If surgery is not something you are considering, there are plenty of non surgical options to consider to get yourself looking and feeling your best. The first thing to focus on should be your skincare routine. Every bride or groom wants to have glowing, clear skin on their wedding day. This will make your makeup look better and will help you to feel confident from within. Depending on your goals for your skin and what needs improvement, it is important to give your skincare products time to work. Any acids or retinol creams that may be started can take anywhere from 6-12 months to work and because of this it is important to give your skin time to adjust to products and also to see results.
It is also important to wear SPF while starting a skincare journey to protect your skin since new products may cause the skin to be more irritated and susceptible to sunburn. We always recommend consulting with a licensed professional to assist you in deciding on which products are right for you. Along with the right skincare at home, skin treatments can be very beneficial in helping your skin to look its best. Some skin treatments include chemical peels, microneedling, and lasers. All of these treatments work best when done in sessions so we recommend starting a series of treatments about 12 months prior to your event. This allows for your body to respond and show the results from these amazing treatments.
Again, we recommend seeing a licensed professional to ensure that you are doing the right treatments for you and your skin. Along with skincare and skin treatments, injectables also can be very helpful in making sure you look and feel your best. Injectables can include neuromodulators like Botox or Dysport and also dermal fillers. If you are thinking about doing any sort of injectable, it is important to give time to figure out your correct dosing and also to let all of the injectables settle. We recommend starting Botox or Dysport up to one year prior to your event so you can figure out the dosing you like and the areas your like to be treated.
This also allows enough time for the neuromodulator to be out of your system if for some reason you did not like the result. Once you figure out the right dose, we recommend doing the final treatment 4-6 weeks prior to your event so that it is settled in. Neuromodulators take 2 weeks to fully kick in so the absolute latest you could go for neuromodulators is 2 weeks before your event. In terms of filler, we recommend coming 4-6 weeks prior to your event as well so there is time for it to settle and integrate. Overall, we recommend working with a licensed professional and developing a treatment plan for ideally 12 months to look and feel your best on your day.
